ELI5: Infinitas = Beatmania IIDX 17 Sirius CS, only on PC, and only for Japan.Beatmania IIDX Infinitas is the newest iteration of the franchise and it picks up where Konami left it back in the PS2 era.Even when the game doesn't have a proper numeral and doesn't seem to correlate with any arcade IIDX game, the song selection corresponds almost 1 to 1 with the Beatmania IIDX 17 one. It has all the 'new' songs from IIDX 17 and even an exclusive one (3y3s Long Version). The game is, sadly, subscription-based, needing to pay an US$14 monthly fee to have access to the whole game. Also, you need an eAmuse account, and you pay the monthly fee through Paseli. There are ways to circumvent these barriers and legally play the game outside from Japan, though (as the game doesn't seem to be IP or region locked). The game, of course, saves your data on Konami's servers and has pretty much the same functionality as the latest Arcade games. I don't know if your progress can be carried over from or to the arcade games, but I can't see why not (well, unless the answer is 'because Konami').All in all, if you don't have access to any Arcade game in any shape or form, and you have 20 bucks to burn monthly, this looks like a great game. Let's just hope Konami keeps increasing the songlist for free for subscriptors instead of selling songpacks on top of the monthly fee.EDIT: I almost forgot!

Konami just teased what it looks like a new Konami Original Controller for IIDX Infinitas. Think about an USB compatible JPKOC. If Konami builds this controller half as good as the old PS2 ones and accounts for input lag, this looks like a cheap alternative to the DJ DAO controllers. Um, there is eamuse when you pirate.

You seem to be a little uninformed. Also, LR2 is a lot more prominent with japanese people rather than the outside world, it isn't some 'gaijin' thing.

People play simulators in order to play the fanmade charts and have more variety and challenge apart from the initial songlist in iidx. The main reason why people buy expensive controllers is because they enjoy the game and don't mind putting in a large amount of money for the ASC experience at home which allows for more indepth and individual practice.

Just going to add to this and say that aside from the crashes, LR2 offers a lot more than IIDX. Want a controller? PS3 controller?

If you're a moron, go ahead. It can also look like IIDX. If you always wanted Tricoro but hated that it didn't have naked anime grills, you could slap those on the skin. If you want a fake double for 1P, go ahead.

Beatmania Iidx Ps2

Yep.LR2 is definitely a million times more flexible than any IIDX game, it has a huge array of music including IIDX converts, and you can pretty much use any input device you want.
