All of the contestants made it an outstanding show and we cannot express how close the competition was. Also the newest addition to our Dream Girl competition was a clothing drive for Blessed Sacrament Church. Our good friend Marie and other church volunteers expressed how much the community needs warm clothes during the winter months so the contestants competed to bring the most pieces! The night after the competition we delivered over 1,200 pieces of clothing from the competition. Megan, 2017 Dream Girl, brought the most with 493 pieces! We did not even put out half of the clothes yet and only 10-15 pieces we're left after the Share-a-Meal event. We would like to thank the girls who donated and to let them know that the clothes went into immediate use! Please help us by donating to this Food Security Fund that will go directly to our Towson peers who need support. The purpose of this fund is to provide immediate financial assistance to students that are deemed to have food insecurities at Towson University.

Food insecurity is defined by the United States Department of Agriculture as a state in which 'consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year'. In an effort to keep anonymity of students in need, financial assistance will be placed on a student's OneCard so they are able to immediately purchase a meal at one of TU's dining halls.Even the smallest donation will make an impact on a students day!The Towson University Greek Philanthropy Challenge is here! The chapter in each council that secures the most donations to the TU Food Insecurity Support Fund during the month of October will win! The purpose of this fund is to provide immediate.

Join Phi Mu - Towson University, Pike, & The Office of Sustainability on October 14th from 11a.m. In Freedom Square to find out which Greek life homecoming partners can recycle the most! David attended a pledge event at Northern Illinois University's Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Vodka-laden hazing ensued. By the end of the night, David’s blood alcohol level reached more than five times the legal limit. David lost consciousness and died during the night.

His estate sued the fraternity’s national organizations: the local chapter and its members; and certain non-member sorority women. The circuit court dismissed. The Illinois Supreme Court affirmed the dismissal of the national organizations. The complaint’s allegations were insufficient to allege an agency relationship under which the Nationals would be vicariously liable for the conduct of the local members. An affirmative duty to aid or protect another against an unreasonable risk of physical harm or to control the conduct of another arises only within the context of a legally recognized “special relationship” that did not exist here. The other defendants may be sued for negligence. While no liability for the sale or gift of alcoholic beverages exists in Illinois outside of the Dramshop Act, the court noted the differences between a social host situation and an alcohol-related hazing event.

A hazing injury is reasonably foreseeable and is likely to occur; the burden of guarding against injury is small, and the consequences of placing that burden on the members are reasonable. The women were more than guests. They were an integral part of the event and occupied a position of influence over the pledges. Illinois Supreme Court allows negligence claims to proceed against local fraternity chapter and sorority guest hostesses in a hazing death case, but affirms dismissal with respect to the fraternity's national organizations.Disclaimer: Justia Annotations is a forum for attorneys to summarize, comment on, and analyze case law published on our site.
